Payal Kapadia's All We Imagine as Light wins Best Film at the Asian Film Awards

Sandhya Suri's Santosh bagged two awards at the ceremony.

At the Asian Film Awards, held in Hong Kong on Sunday, Indian films won some major recognitions. After getting six nominations, Payal Kapadia's All We Imagine as Light took home the top honour of Best Film.

Payal Kapadia was nominated in the Best Director category but lost out to the director of Teki Cometh, Daihachi Yoshida. She was also nominated in the Best Screenplay category. All We Imagine as Light's stars Kani Kusruti and Divya Prabha were nominated in the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress categories, respectively. But Shahana Goswami won the award for Best Actress for her role in Santosh, and the award for Best Supporting Actress went to Yang Kuei-mei, who starred in Yen and Ai-Lee. All We Imagine as Light was also nominated in the Best Editing category.

For the crime drama Santosh, Sandhya Suri won the award for Best New Director. The film, which was on the shortlist for the Oscars, was about a cop who takes on a case involving the murder of a young girl. Santosh marked Sandhya Suri's feature film debut.
