Producer Ishari K Ganesh and actor-director Sripriya are now the new owners of the Chennai franchise of the Celebrity Cricket League. The team, which was earlier called Chennai Rhinos has changed its name to Vels Chennai Kings.

The sale comes ahead of the next season of the Celebrity Cricket League, which will take place, early in 2026. The franchise was earlier owned by K Ganga Prasad. Actor Arya is currently the captain of the side.

Other players on the team includes Adhav, Balasaravanan, Dasarathy, Jiiva, Prithvi, Ramana, Shanthnu, Sharan, Vikranth, and Vishnu Vishal.

The Chennai Rhinos were the inaugral champions of the Celebrity Cricket League, when it was first conducted in 2011. The side went on to win the league in 2012. The side came second in the 2015 edition and the 2025 edition of the league. The Telugu Warriors won in 2015, while Punjab De Sher won in 2025.
