Pakistani blockbuster The Legend of Maula Jatt, starring Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan, to not release in India

The distributor of the Pakistani film The Legend of Maula Jatt confirmed that the film will not get a release in India, contrary to earlier reports. The film stars Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan in the lead roles. No Pakitsani film has been released in India in over ten years.

Reportedly, an Indian ministry obtained a stay order against its release. Touted to be one of the most expensive films in Pakistan, the Punjabi film is the highest grossing Pakistani film of all time. Apart from Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan, it also stars Hamza Ali Abbasi and Humaima Malik.

The Legend of Maula Jatt is directed by Bilal Lashari and written by Nasir Adeeb. It is adapted from the 1979 Pakistani film Maula Jatt. Lashari is also the cinematographer and editor of the film, which released in October 2022.
