Naoko Yamada’s film The Colors Within gets India release date

Yamada, known for Liz and the Blue Bird as well as A Silent Voice, directed the film from a Reiko Yoshida screenplay

Warner Bros. India has announced the release date of renowned filmmaker Naoko Yamada’s anime feature The Colors Within. It will hit theatres with subtitles in English on November 22. The Japanese film revolves around Totsuko (Sayu Suzukawa), a high schooler with synesthesia, the rare capability to see human emotions as colours. Totsuko forges an unlikely relationship classmate Kimi (Akari Takaishi) and Rui (Taisei Kido), a music fanatic they come across at a bookstore. The three form a music band and perform at a church on an isolated island. When they connect with one another through music, they start to discover more about themselves and their emotions.

The film comes from the Science Saru studio, which produced Dandadan. Yamada, known for Liz and the Blue Bird as well as  A Silent Voice, directed the film from a Reiko Yoshida screenplay.

A film that had its premiere at the 2024 Annecy International Animation Film Festival, The Colors Within won the Golden Goblet for Best Animation at the Shanghai International Film Festival.
