Cannes Xpress 2024: Italian banner PiperFilm officially launches with Paolo Sorrentino's Parthenope

Distribution company PiperFilm has officially announced its inception in the film business, with director Paolo Sorrentino's upcoming film Parthenope.

Parthenope is scheduled for a premiere at the 77th Cannes Film Festival on May 21. The film was selected to compete for the Palem d'Or.

The film, named after a Greek mythological character Parthenope, stars Celeste Dalla Porta, Stefania Sandrelli, Gary Oldman, Silvio Orlando, Luisa Ranieri, Peppe Lanzetta, and Isabella Ferrari. The director while speaking to the Variety, "who bears the name of her city but is neither siren nor myth."

Parthenope is bankrolled by Lorenzo Mieli, Ardavan Safaee, Paolo Sorrentino, and Anthony Vaccarello under The Apartment Pictures, Saint Laurent Productions, Numero 10 and Pathe.

While PiperFilm will be distributing the film in Italy through Warner Bros. Entertainment Italia, Pathe Distribution will take it to French cinema halls. Us' A24 has bagged the North American distribution rights.
