The Match Factory will officially launch La Llorona director Jayro Bustamante's upcoming dystopian thriller El Sombreron at the Cannes Film Festival.

The latest update is, actors Adria Arjona and Edgar Ramirez have onboarded the film.

El Sombreron, named after a bogeyman like figure that features in Guatemalan folklore, follows the story of an ambitious woman Lila trapped as the trophy wife of a violent cartel boss. She takes up the opportunity offered by a stranger named Ramón in desperation to escape from the clutches of her boss.

Apart from El Sombreron, Arjona will next be co-starring with Glen Powell in Richard Linklater's Hit Man, which will have a theatrical release on May 24. She also features in Blink Twice, by debut director Zoe Kravitz.

Meanwhile, Ramirez's Emilia Perez will be premiered in Competition at Cannes. The film directed by Jacques Audiard, has Zoe Saldana and Selena Gomez starring alongside Ramirez.
