Denmark has selected The Promised Land as its official entry to compete at the Oscars 2024 race under the best international feature film category.

The film had its premiere at the Venice Film Festival this year. It stars Mads Mikkelsen as a determined person to cultivate a piece of 18th century's Danish land. The Promised Land is helmed by Nikolaj Arcel, who has earlier worked with Mads in A Royal Affair.

The film will be released by Magnolia Pictures in the US and is slated for a theatrical release on February 2, 2024. Apart from Mads, the film also stars Amanda Collin, Simon Bennebjerg and Kristine Kujath Thorp.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is set to reveal the films selected for the Oscar shortlist on December 21, with the nominees out on January 23, 2024. The 95th Oscars will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 10.
