The trailer of the critically acclaimed Japanese film Perfect Days was unveiled by Neon on Thursday. The film which has made its rounds in the film festival circuits, is Japan's Oscars 2024 entry under the category Best International Feature Film.

Directed by German filmmaker Wim Wenders, the film made its debut at the Cannes Film Festival this year. 

The film follows Hirayama, a content toilet cleaner in Tokyo, who enjoys a simple life and liking for music and books. However, a series of events unfold a different part of his life and past. The film stars Koji Yakusho, Arisa Nakano, Tokio Emoto, Yumi Aso, Sayuri Ishikawa, Tomokazu Miura, Aoi Yamada, and Min Tanaka, among others.

It is to be noted that it is the first time Japan has picked a film made by a non-Japanese filmmaker for an Oscars.

Backed by Koji Yanai, Wim Wenders, Takuma Takasaki, Perfect Days is also co-written by Takasaki. A date for the theatrical release of Perfect Days is yet to be announced.
