Netflix released the trailer of director Pablo Larrain's upcoming film El Conde. The film will release in selected theatres and premiere on Netflix on September 15. A satirical comedy, the film is set in a parallel universe and will revolve around a 250-year-old vampire.

El Conde features Chilean actor Jaime Vadell in the lead titular role. He plays the age old vampire who has been around since the French Revolution and as existential crisis hits him, the character decides to end his life, not wanting to be remembered as a thief.

Others part of the cast include Gloria Munchmeyer, Alfredo Castro, Paula Luchsinger, among others. The original screenplay is Pablo along with Guillermo Calderón. Though not based on real person, it takes inspiration from Chilean ruler Pinochet.

“I have spent years imagining Pinochet as a vampire, as a being that never stops circulating through history, both in our imagination and nightmares. Vampires do not die, they do not disappear, nor do the crimes and thefts of a dictator who never faced true justice. Together with my collaborators on the film, we wanted to show the brutal impunity that Pinochet represents," the director said to Netflix.

The film was shot in Chile, France and England, and will have a premiere at the Venice International Film Festival.
