Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 trailer out: Kartik Aaryan faces off 'Manjulika' in soapy sequel

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, co-starring Kiara Advani and Tabu, releases next month

The trailer of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is out. The film, a spiritual sequel to the 2007 hit, is directed by Anees Bazmee. It stars Kartik Aaryan, Tabu and Kiara Advani.

The fast-moving trailer leads us through a darkened old mansion, eventually settling on a door with a spirit trapped within. That, of course, is Manjulika, the iconic assumed female ghost of the original. Here, she's all too real and preys on the oddball residents of the haveli. Kartik plays a ghostbuster thief who enters this world and is given mixed signals. While Kiara Advani, playing his love interest, tells him to chill, another character played by Tabu is more apprehensive. Eventually, all doubts are cleared as we see 'Manjulika' in form, haunting Kiara and coming to blows with Kartik.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is sprinkled with nods to Priyadarshan's much-love comedy, itself a remake of the Malayalam Manichitrathazhu (1993). Kartik borrows Akshay Kumar's antics, and there are gags harking back to the original. Rajpal Yadav, unforgettable as Chhote Pandit from the first, is back, accompanied by Rajesh Sharma and Sanjay Mishra in the new cast. The sequel is directed by Anees Bazmee, known for comedies such as Welcome, Ready and Pagalpanti

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is written by Farhad Samji and Aakash Kaushik. The film is releasing in theatres on May 20.
