The official trailer of upcoming Yami Gautam Dhar starrer Nayyi Navelli was unveiled at a grand event held in Mumbai. Jointly presented by Aanand L Rao and Amazon MGM Studios, the film is set to release on October 16.

Billed as a fantasy family-entertainer, Nayyi Navelli tells the story of a middle-class family in Meerut, the Awasthi family, where the arrival of their new bahu Mohini (Yami Gautam), who is perfect in everything she does, sparks a lot of suspicions in Mohini’s brother in law Bantu (Anurag Thakur) who doubts her to be a Daayan. Bantu’s clumsy yet determined investigation eventually reveals something far more majestic than anyone could imagine, something which goes back to Treta Yug and the need of a saviour to eradicate evil from this universe.

Directed by Balaji Mohan and written by Himanshu Sharma and Divy Nidhi Sharma, the film also features Addinath M Kothare, Anurag Thakur, Sunita Rajwar, Mita Vasisth, Aaditya Kulshreshth, Susmita Mukherjee and Prateek Pachori in pivotal roles. GV Prakash Kumar has composed music for the film.

Balaji Mohan said on the occasion, “Handling my actors was not an issue. We had so much fun on the sets, that often I would join in as well. I couldn't have asked for a better lead actor than Yami. I am excited for audiences to experience my first Hindi film and this epic, fantastical world on the big screen this Dussehra.”

Talking about playing Mohini, Yami Gautam Dhar shared in an official statement, “What drew me to Mohini is that she is never quite what you expect. There’s a warmth and familiarity to her, but also a mystery that slowly reveals itself. Nayyi Navelli gave me the opportunity to explore a character that moves seamlessly between family, humour, emotion, fantasy and action, while still staying rooted at heart.”

At the box office, Nayyi Navelli is set to clash against Raj Kummar Rao starrer Raftaar.
