Mirzapur: The Movie, the film spinoff of the popular Mirzapur universe, took a roaring start at the box office on Friday. Directed by Gurmmeet Singh, 

The film collected Rs 24.70 crores (nett) at the domestic box office, playing at nearly 11,100 screens all over India, according to Sacnilk. Interestingly, the film performed significantly better in Delhi-NCR compared to other urban centres including Mumbai, registering occupancy rates of 54.3 percent in the territory.  Among 2-Tier cities, the film performed the best in Lucknow, with a 74.3 occupancy.

With its stupendous opening day figures, Mirzapur: The Movie is only behind Dhurandhar 2, Border 2, and Toxic, when it comes to day 1 collections for 2026 films. 

Overall, Mirzapur: The Movie has also received positive reviews from both critics and audience. So the makers can easily expect an 80-85 crore nett figure for the first weekend. 

Written and co-created by Puneet Krishna, Mirzapur: The Movie has in the lead cast Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Shweta Tripathi, Rasika Dugal, Abhishek Banerjee, and Shriya Pilgaonkar. In another exciting development, Divyenndu returns as Munna Bhaiyya. Additionally, Jitendra Kumar will be seen playing Bablu Pandit, instead of Vikrant Massey. Also marking his entry in the Mirzapur universe is Ravi Kishan as Babban Babua Yadav.

The movie is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under Excel Entertainment, with Amazon MGM Studios backing the project.

In our review for the film, we noted, “It works better as an extended special episode than a big screen mass mayhem experience. Still, there is some assured storytelling at work here. Thankfully, the makers don’t resort to futile excesses for some quick bucks. The Mirzapur universe doesn’t go gun-crazy.”
