Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, who got married earlier this year, made an appearance together recently on Karan Johar’s talk show Koffee with Karan, which is currently amidst its last season. During the same, Vijay Deverakonda addressed the subject of dealing with criticism for his breakout hit Arjun Reddy, also expressing his unconditional support for Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
Expressing his displeasure at the extremely critical opinions of some and defending his Arjun Reddy director, Vijay said, “People are judging you on their lens of certain things. They were picking on it. For Sandeep, it can hurt him in a different way. Also, we are very early in our career. We had big dreams, but suddenly we had everyone trashing on our career. Initially, a bunch of them gave very bad reviews. But still it went on to do what it did.”
Further talking in Sandeep’s defense, Vijay added, “He was just expressing what he felt. I will always support Sandeep no matter what he does.”
Talking about the protagonists of Sandeep Reddy Vanga films, he said, “His characters are always very honest. They are not perfect. They take responsibility for their actions. They are always very good at what they are doing. There is an innocence, vulnerability, sensitivity to them. It was writing from that space.”
Arjun Reddy, which released in August 2017, emerged as a massive box office success. The film was later remade in Hindi with Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani in the lead, and was an equally big hit in Hindi as well.
Vijay and Rashmika were recently seen sharing screen in Ranabaali, the Telugu period-drama which received mixed reviews but failed to create any spark at the box office.
