Mrunal Thakur, who recently had her 4th film release this year with Pooja Meri Jaan, spoke about the working experience in the film. The Zee 5 original movie, where Mrunal played a girl dealing with public trial, began streaming on October 2.

In an official statement, Mrunal spoke about the challenges of playing such an emotional demanding role, adding, “Pooja is constantly navigating different emotional spaces. There is fear, confusion, love, strength, vulnerability, and sometimes, within the same scene, there is so much uncertainty. But that’s also something that made my process very exciting."

Further talking about why Pooja Meri Jaan came at an exciting juncture for her, Mrunal said, “For the last two years, I have been only working on projects which are making me look pretty and do comedy, but this is a different genre. It’s a challenging genre which allows me emotionally to just take off. Sometimes, it also allowed me to discover something new about myself as a performer.”

Mrunal was seen in varying films like Do Deewane Seher Mein, Dacoit, and Hai Jawani to Ishq Hona Hai earlier this year. Talking about her own evolving aspirations as an artist, the actor added, “Today, I’m attracted to stories that make me feel something, challenge me as an actor, or make me see a familiar subject differently. I want to be a part of slice-of-life stories. I want to resonate with the character, and be able to resonate with the audience at the same time. I’m not looking to repeat myself, that’s my constant effort. Be it Love Sonia, Pooja Meri Jaan, or Sita Ramam, they are all very different movies, and I want to be known as a versatile actress who’s not afraid of jumping from one genre to another. It’s about surprising the audience, and I hope Pooja Meri Jaan does that."

Directed by Navjot Gulati, Pooja Meri Jaan also featured Huma Qureshi, Vijay Raaz, and Vikram Singh Chauhan in the lead cast.

In our review for the film, we noted, “It is rewarding to watch a film which questions your notions, makes you introspect on your beliefs. Pooja Meri Jaan is thought-provoking, walking on a tightrope between sensitive ideas and strong opinions.”
