Udta Teer release postponed; Ayushmann Khurrana starrer spy comedy to now arrive on this date

The spy comedy also features Sara Ali Khan in lead role

The release date for Ayushmann Khurranna starrer Udta Teer, which was scheduled to arrive on October 9, has now officially been postponed. The spy comedy which also stars Sara Ali Khan in lead cast will now arrive in theatres on October 23.

In a press release, the makers stated that they have decided to push their film’s release further to ‘get a cleaner release window and a stronger theatrical runway instead of compromising on screens in a suddenly crowded marketplace.’ It is to be noted that Drishyam: The Conclusion, which released today, has taken a massive box office opening and is expected to dominate the screens for next couple of weeks at the least. Meanwhile, October 16 will see the release of two films — Prahaar and Nayyi Navelli.  So far, Udta Teer is the only major release set for October 23 release.

The official trailer of the film was unveiled 9 days ago. Helmed by screenwriter Aakash Kaushik (Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Thank God), the film tells the story of a proficient Pakistani spy (Ayushmann) who enters India to infiltrate its security systems. However, a predicament occurs when this spy loses his memory after a mission and develops nationalistic feelings towards India. He even joins the country's counter-terrorism unit and unknowingly becomes a double agent. 

Udta Teer also features also features Gulshan Grover, Ram Kapoor and the late Mukul Dev, Rahul Bose, Suhail Nayyar, Raghubir Yadav, Brijendra Kala, Sandeep Anand, Supriya Pilgaonkar and Smita Tambe. The film is a joint collaboration between Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment led by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain, respectively.
