Director Vikas Bahl is preparing for his next film, which stars Jimmy Shergill, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Alizeh Agnihotri, and Mona Singh in important roles. A coming-of-age drama, the film traces the growing prominence of Punjabi music as a cultural movement in the United Kingdom of the early 1990s. This is a time period when a new generation took to music at garages, pirate radio stations, underground locations, and backrooms in the UK. Back then, Punjabi dhol and basslines came together thanks to brown artists, who were young and produced distinctive music that made its way into music charts, while bringing more visibility to their community.

According to a source close to the project, the film tells a coming-of-age story that explores elements of music, family, identity, friendship and belonging. Besides the aforementioned stars, it also has an ensemble cast comprising international actors, musicians and other performers. Not much else is known about the film.

Vikas Bahl is known for his coming-of-age stories, especially 2013's Queen, starring Kangana Ranaut. The film follows a young woman (Kangana) who decides to embark on a solo trip across Europe after her fiance (Rajkummar Rao) cancels the wedding with only a few days to go for its scheduled date. Besides, 2011's Chillar Party, which Vikas directed alongside Nitesh Tiwari, has coming-of-age elements.

On the other hand, Siddhant Chaturvedi is also known for his singing talents; the actor sometimes drops his independent singles on the internet. Siddhant is popular for his role as a rapper named MC Sher in Gully Boy as well.

Vikas Bahl's upcoming films include Dil Ka Darwaaza Khol Na Darling, which stars Siddhant Chaturvedi as well. The film, which has been in development since 2024, also has actors Wamiqa Gabbi and Jaya Bachchan, among others.
