After a string of Hindi films, actor Janhvi Kapoor is coming back to Telugu cinema with a role in Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana and co-starring Ram Charan. Before Peddi, Janhvi starred in 2024's Devara: Part 1, opposite Jr NTR. Since Devara, she has appeared in films such as Homebound, Param Sundari, and Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.
Peddi marks Janhvi Kapoor's second Telugu film. At a promotional interview for it, the actor spoke about the constant pressure of having to live up to people's expectations from her, as the daughter of the legendary Sridevi.
Addressing whether the constant comparison is a burden in an interview with Zoom, Janhvi said, "Let us be pragmatic. Nobody is doing the comparisons to the level where, 'Oh, is she is as good as Sridevi?' Because I think it is a fact that no one can ever be like her."
The actor added that the comparisons revolve around the legacy aspect. "People ask, 'Can she live up to what her mother created, but I think even that is an impossibility when you get down to it. I think my endeavour is is just to honour her legacy by doing what I can in the best possible way and working with maximum honesty," Janhvi added.
Janhvi also expressed her gratitude for opportunities to star in films. "I want to put my head down and give it all because it makes me happy. And I think it keeps her memory alive for me," the actor said.
Coming back to Peddi, the film is slated for a June 04 release in theatres.
