The conversation around Ranveer Singh being issued a directive by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) over his exiting Don 3 refuses to die down. Now, in a new development, FWICE has reportedly decided to escalate the matter by seeking an invention from other leading film bodies.
According to a report by India Today, FWICE has formally reached out to Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) and the Producers Guild of India. While keeping the Ranveer Singh-Excel Entertainment dispute at the centre, FWICE also hopes to form guidelines to deal with similar situations in the longer run.
In a detailed letter penned to the producers’ association, FWICE has brought attention to the increasing trend of big financial and operational losses being caused to producers when big stars back out of projects at the nth hour, “also disrupting the larger production ecosystem, affecting the livelihood of artists, technicians, and workers associated with such projects.”
As part of its proposal, FWICE has also suggested formulation of a Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) in order to be able to efficiently handle similar disputes in the future. Additionally, the federation also intends to establish clear framework and protocols, enable safeguards for producers against arbitrary exits from projects, creation of institutional mechanism for dispute resolution, and overall seek a system that demands greater ‘professional accountability and discipline.’ Currently, Excel Entertainment seeks damages amounting to Rs 45 crores from Ranveer Singh.
Meanwhile, CINTAA has openly expressed its support to Ranveer Singh in the whole dispute, clearly stating that the Dhurandhar actor is free to approach them for any kind of support in the matter.
