Brown teaser out: Karishma Kapoor stars as a troubled cop in this thriller

The neo-noir series follows Karishma Kapoor’s transformation into Rita Brown, a cop, as she investigates chilling murder cases

Karishma Kapoor is making a major comeback as the lead in Brown, a neo-noir crime series premiering soon on OTT platform ZEE5. Directed by Abhinay Deo and produced by Umesh Kumar Bansal, Brown is based on Abheek Barua’s novel City of Death. Karishma Kapoor plays Rita Brown, a cop who is haunted by her past as she investigates a chilling murder cases.

The teaser gives viewers a first look at the dark and intense world of the series. At the heart of it is Rita Brown, a police officer struggling with alcoholism, who is not only solving crimes, but is also working through her own emotional scars and addictions as she hunts the serial killer.

Karishma’s transformation into a troubled cop marks a striking shift from the roles she has been previously associated with. The show also stars Surya Sharma, Jisshu U Sengupta, Soni Razdan, Helen Khan, Shaan, Paresh Pahuja, Ajinkya Deo, Aryann Bhowmik and Meghna Malik. The tone and visuals are dark and serious, in keeping with the neo-noir style.

While the trailer keeps much of the mystery under wraps, it establishes Brown as more than just another crime procedural. Beneath the hunt of a serial killer lies a story of a woman trying to survive her own demons. With its emotionally complex lead character, the show has begun drawing attention among viewers eager to see Karishma Kapoor in an entirely new avatar.

A release date for the thriller-drama is yet to be announced by the makers.
