The official trailer of upcoming Anurag Kashyap film Bandar was unveiled on Thursday afternoon. Starring Bobby Deol in the lead role, Bandar is set for theatrical release on June 5.

The trailer begins with an aggressive cop (Jitendra Joshi) interrogating Sameer (Bobby Deol), as he reads his messages, tonally underlining the predatory nature of the interaction. The trailer then establishes the relationship between Sameer, a musician who indulges in extreme self-loathing and remains doubtful of his goodness, and a journalist (Sapna Pabbi) who remains fond of him and confident about their relationship. However, Sameer is arrested after charges of rape, extortion and blackmail by the same woman. And there on, begins a new hellish journey for Sameer, as he plunges deeper into a pit riddled with violence, hardships, and existential crisis.

Sanya Malhotra plays Sameer’s skeptic sister who nonetheless wants to pull him out of his misery. The supporting cast includes Indrajith Sukumaran, Raj B Shetty and Saba Azad.

Bandar is presented by Nikhil Dwivedi and produced by Gaurir Pandit, Shivie Pandit and Anurag Kashyap. Aarti Bajaj is the editor, and the cinematography is by Shaaz Rizwi. Amit Trivedi reunites with Anurag Kashyap after 3 years. 

At the box office, Bandar will clash against the David Dhawan comedy Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, which stars Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde in the lead cast.
