Singer composer Amaal Mallik shared a deeply personal note on his Instagram stories, alleging that influential people in the industry have sidelined him from several projects over many years. In the emotional post, he mentioned that he was removed from “more than 60” projects between 2019 and 2026 because of industry politics and power dynamics.
The singer said that he nearly took down 20 projects by himself because he did not feel respected in those setups. “The musician in me wouldn’t be able to respect himself," he wrote for not being able to explain why he chose not to compromise his work.
In the note, Amaal apologized to his fans who feel they no longer hear enough of his music in films. According to him, “award-worthy politics” and “petty groupism” in the industry over the last eight years have played a major role in that. He said he cannot be a part of a clout or a power setup. He also alleged that speaking truth openly about the truth of the industry will further upset certain powerful people and will lead to threats directed at him and his family.
He claimed there is now a “mixed syndicate of egoistic humans” that does not want him to be a part of films anymore. However, he said that he has “no regrets” and called it “their loss.” He added that he would keep creating songs and shooting music videos “with or without movies.”
Ending on a hopeful note, he urged his listeners to support his independent music. He added that if a film song happens in the future, it would be "great," and if not, fans should not worry.
