Earlier this Friday, the makers of Welcome To The Jungle dropped a teaser for the upcoming film, directed by Ahmed Khan and starring Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Arshad Warsi, and Disha Patani, among others. The Welcome To The Jungle teaser has some meta references and hints at a storyline reminiscent of director-actor Ben Stiller's spoof comedy, Tropic Thunder.
The teaser begins with a quirky spin on the official disclaimer usually seen in films, which goes like, "No animals were harmed in the making of this film.." Here, the Welcome To The Jungle teaser says, "In the making of this film no animals were used... except for some horses and us donkeys." At one point in the teaser, Akshay's character tells Tusshar Kapoor's character that he no longer wants to be part of the film within the film and tries to walk away. However, when Tusshar encourages Akshay by saying, "Brother, we are getting crores from it," the latter gets back in, saying, "Money gets in the way always." Akshay has often said in interviews that he has starred in many films mainly to make money.
The characters in Welcome To The Jungle are part of a massive ensemble film in a forest with plenty of action sequences. The film also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Jackie Shroff, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Farida Jalal, Johny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Rajpal Yadav, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Daler Mehndi, Aftab Shivdasani, and Mukesh Tiwari.
Also part of the cast are actors Yashpal Sharma, Kiran Kumar, Zakir Hussain, Vindu Dara Singh, Urvashi Rautela, Hemant Pandey, Brijendra Kala, Feroze Khan (Arjun), the late Pankaj Dheer, Puneet Issar, Sudesh Berry, Jeetu Verma, Vrihi Kodvara, Adityaa Singgh, Bhagya Bhanushali.
Directed by Ahmed Khan from a story by Neeraj Vora, the film has cinematography by Kabir Lal, editing by Nitin FCP, stunts by Abbas Ali Moghul, and background music by Hanif Shaikh. The composers for the film comprise Vikram Montrose, Anand Raaj Anand, Talwiinder, NDS, and Sajid-Wajid.
Welcome To The Jungle is the third film in the long-running franchise, which started with 2007's Welcome. The film does not have some cast members from Welcome, notably Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar, who starred in the 2007 original as Majnu Bhai and Don Uday Shetty, respectively. The film is slated for a June 26 release. Meanwhile, its title track is set to release on May 18, Monday.
