A few days ago, we had reported about Manoj Bajpayee playing the lead role in the upcoming period-drama Governor: The Silent Saviour, which is being produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah under Sunshine Pictures. The makers released the first teaser of their film on Thursday, also confirming the release date. Governor: The Silent Saviour will release in theatres on June 12.

Also starring Adah Sharma in a key role, and set against the backdrop of 1990's economic crisis in India, Governor promises to tell the story of A Ramanan, a man who arrives out of nowhere, after being appointed as the new RBI Governor, to rescue the nation from a complete economic breakdown. Even as the entire system seems pitted against him, rooting for his failure, the silent, brooding man hopes to emerge victorious defying all expectations. “When India stood on the brink of collapse, one man carried the weight of a nation… and refused to let it fall,” the caption reads. 

Suvendu Bhatacharjee, Saurabh Bharat, Ravi Asrani, Vipul Amrutlal Shah serve as scriptwriters for Governor, while Chinmay Mandlekar helms the direction. Amit Trivedi and Javed Akhtar reunite after many years for the film’s soundtrack.

In the technical team, Vishal Sinha helms the cinematography while editing is co-helmed by Meghna Manchanda Sen, Sanjay Sharma. Mannan Shah composes the background score. Rajesh Choudhary is the production designer, while Varsha Chandanani and Shilpa Makhija are the costume designers for the period-drama. 

Governor will clash at the box office against other big films like Main Vaapas Aaunga and Kangana Ranaut’s Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata.
