Even as Bhooth Bangla continues to perform well at the box office, the producers of the Akshay Kumar starrer horror-comedy now find themselves embroiled in a financial controversy.

As per a Mid-Day report, many vendors who worked on the film have accused Balaji Motion Pictures of non-payment of dues. While one of them alleged a non-payment of Rs 30 lakh, the other non-payment allegation amounts to Rs 18 lakhs.  As per the report, the vendors in question also complained that the norm of 90-day window for clearance of invoices is not being followed sincerely anymore, additionally alleging most producers for prioritising stars and primary crew members when it comes to payments, and ignoring others for months.

According to the same report, Balaji Motion Pictures have denied all such allegations, stating, “Balaji Telefilms Limited has fulfilled all its contractual payment obligations in relation to various projects undertaken by the company.”

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Ekta Kapoor took to her social media pages to pen heartfelt notes to all the lead members of the Bhooth Bangla team, including Akshay Kumar, Priyadarshan, Wamiqa Gabbi and Paresh Rawal, also congratulating them for the film’s success.

After earning nearly Rs 84 crores (nett) in its opening week, the film held up well in 2nd week, adding another 44 crores to its nett collections. According to a report by Sacnilk, the Akshay Kumar starrer has garnered more than Rs 230 crores so far.
