After registering an impressive first weekend at the ticket windows, Riteish Deshmukh’s period action-drama Raja Shivaji seems to be going steady at the box office. The film earned about Rs 33.9 crore in its first three days, as per Sacnilk.com. On Monday, however, the collections dropped to single digits at Rs 5.6 crore and further to Rs 4.9 crore on Tuesday. The total five-day box office haul for the film stands at Rs 44.4 crore net.
Raja Shivaji’s Marathi version continues to have more takers. In the regional language, the film made Rs 3.35 crore on Day 5 (Tuesday) while its Hindi version could only manage Rs 1.55 crore.
The film is facing stiff competition from earlier releases such as Bhooth Bangla, which continues to perform strongly and has earned a total India net of Rs 144.25 crore. International releases like The Devil Wears Prada 2 are also catching up with Raja Shivaji, with a total India collection of Rs 16 crore.
Produced by Jio Studios and Mumbai Film Company, Raja Shivaji is directed by Riteish and features a large ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi, Boman Irani, Amol Gupte, and Genelia Deshmukh. Salman Khan also makes a cameo appearance.
