Junaid Khan, Aamir Khan’s son who made his debut nearly 2 years ago with Maharaj, recently had a major release with Ek Din. Also featuring Sai Pallavi in lead, Ek Din is the first Junaid starrer to be produced by Aamir. Recently, Aamir spoke about Junaid’s independent approach to his career.

In an official statement, Aamir said, “I don't read Junaid’s scripts. He doesn't even want me to interfere in his career. After he learned theatre in Los Angeles and returned from there, he started a theatre in Bombay and would go to auditions for casting directors. He didn’t tell anyone he was my son, and I didn’t tell anyone either.”

Aamir also recalled how he heard the news of Junaid being cast for Maharaj, which was produced by Yash Raj Films. “One day I got a call from Adi Chopra (Aditya Chopra). He said that he is taking Junaid in a film,  Maharaj. I got to know about this film from the outside. He did a good job. So he made his own career.”

Further reflecting on Junaid’s individualistic choices on a personal level, Aamir noted, “To be honest, as a father, he didn't let me do anything. I have told him many times to buy a car. He never took anything from me.”

At the box office, Ek Din has collected Rs 4.09 crore (nett) at the box office so Far. Directed by Sunil Pandey, the romance-drama also has Kunal Kapoor in a special appearance. Aamir Khan has co-produced the film in association with Mansoor Khan, and Aparna Purohit. Ram Sampath has composed music for the film.
