Artificial intelligence is capable of replicating pretty much anything and that too, in a way that deceives the naked eye. Take, for instance, filmmaker Subhash Ghai who shared on his social media 'a self portrait' that he has been informed is created by sand. Sharing the portrait earlier this Friday, the filmmaker said that one of his friends sent it to him, claiming that it is created by renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik. "Cant believe it. My friend sent me this amazing sand picture made by our famous sand artiste Sudarsan Pattnaik, a Padma Shree recipient, and the best sand artist known in India from Puri with such perfection and affection," the filmmaker wrote.

However, in the comments section of his post, fans and well wishers noticed the lack of authenticity in the picture that suggests the use of AI for its creation.

According to them, the facial features in the image looks too perfect to be made by human hands. Many of them also express their surprise at how a renowned filmmaker such as Subhash Ghai can fall for such a gimmick.

Meanwhile, the image has caught the attention of sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik himself. Quote tweeting the filmmaker's post, Sudarsan wrote, "Namaskar Subhash Ghai ji, I am truly honored to receive your message and appreciation. Sir, I am a big fan of you. With due respect, I would like to share that the sand sculpture appears to be AI-generated, and there may have been a small misunderstanding or some incorrect information. Your kind words mean a great deal to me—they are truly a blessing. With respect and gratitude."

On the work front, Subhash Ghai's last film Kaanchi: The Unbreakable released in 2014, and he has been on a break from direction since then.
