On Wednesday evening, Boman Irani surprised everyone by posting a satirical video about Donald Trump. Referring to the US President’s desire to hold talks with Iranian people, Boman made a pun about three Iranis — him, Smriti Irani, and Aruna Irani — willing to be part of it, as long as Trump brings a gas cylinder along with him.

However, the 3 Idiots actor has now received backlash from none other than Mandana Karimi, who has criticised the veteran actor for his allegedly ill-timed post. Taking to the comments section under Boman’s satirical post, Mandana wrote, “Boman Irani sir… suddenly you have a lot to say about Iran. Interesting timing. For years, Iranians have been getting arrested, executed, silenced. Thousands killed. Families torn apart. And people like me we’ve lived it. We’ve spoken about it. But now… there’s a video.  there’s concern. Now there’s humour about gas, about Trump, about “come to my house.” Sir, with all respect you and the Parsi community come from Iran. You carry that history. That fire.”

Further question the timing of Boman’s post, Mandana added, “Where was this voice when Iranians were dying? And now suddenly because it affects gas, politics, global talks there’s commentary? I mean… slow clap Really. From silence to satire — that was fast.”

Mandana Karimi's post

While Boman hasn’t replied to Mandana’s comment yet, Mandana’s remarks have received strong support from netizens. Meanwhile, many notable film figures like Farhan Akhtar, Sameera Reddy and Kumud Mishra replied to Boman’s post in a positive manner.

Mandana has acted in films like Roy (2015), Bhaag Johnny (2015), and Thar (2022). It is to be noted that Mandana, who is natively Iranian, recently spoke about her desire to return to Iran, to support her nation during a time of crises.
