Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar took to social media on Wednesday to tease a new project. The Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011) posted a picture of a script on her Instagram, the title of which reads: “A Perfect Match the search begins.”

The project seems to be a series since the script also has “Pilot” and “Writer’s draft” written on it. It will be directed by Arjun Varain Singh, longtime assistant director to Zoya and also the director of 2023 young-adult drama film Kho Gaye Hum Kahan.

Zoya captioned the post: “Kabir & Navya ❤️ Stay Tuned.” Although the makers have not officially announced the cast for the project, Ananya Panday and Ishaan Khatter left speculative comments on it. While Ananya put up a “🤭” emoji, Ishaan wrote a “Hmmmmmmmm” with a smiley face at the end.

The show seems to be a love story. Previously during a conversation organised by Screenwriters Association (SWA), Zoya was asked what she thinks the next five years for India might look like and what sort of themes aspiring writers should explore and she replied, “See, I don't function that way. Like, I don't know, ‘Oh, now they're looking for this, so let me write this.’ I don't think that way. But if you look at it in the past 10 years, 15 years, it changes. Everything gets saturated, everything changes. So, I mean, if you look at it cyclically, maybe love stories will come back.”

Zoya’s last work was the OTT film The Archies.
