Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge witnessed a 43 per cent drop in collections on its first Monday since release. The Ranveer Singh-headliner, however, still managed to rake in Rs 65 crore (net), as per industry tracker Sacnilk.com.
While the film made Rs 43 crore in its paid previews, it’s Day 1 collection on Thursday was Rs 102.55 crore, followed by a drop on Friday to Rs 80.72 crore. The spy action-drama, however, picked up on the weekend and amassed Rs 113 crore and Rs 114.85 crore on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. The film’s total India net collection stands at Rs 519.12 crore.
Meanwhile, the movie’s total worldwide gross collection stands at Rs 829.76 crore after six days (including paid previews on March 18) at the box office. Dhurandhar: The Revenge in just its first weekend is already inching towards the total Hindi net collection of its predecessor which was Rs 840.20 crore.
Dhurandhar: The Revenge also has an ensemble star cast of Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun. The film is being lauded by many in the industry with superstar Rajinikanth being the latest one to praise the film. He took to X and wrote, “What a film... Dhurandhar 2!!! Aditya Dhar box office ka baap!!! Many congratulations to Ranveer and the entire cast and crew. A must watch film for every indian. Jai Hind.”
The film, however, got mixed response from critics. While many appreciated its craft, others called out the film’s pro-establishment stance and blatant propaganda.
CE’s review of the film read: “Dhurandhar: The Revenge is mythmaking at its cool, suave, stylish and high-octane best. If its filmmaking is arresting, its propaganda is even more unsubtle. The film seems to convey that everything that is happening is part of a bigger, masterful plan, mortal viewers like us will be unable to comprehend.”
