Priyanka Chopra at Oscars controversy: Swara Bhasker calls out the fake post circulating by her name

Amidst the recent controversy where Priyanka Chopra received a lot of flak for her lukewarm reaction to Javier Bardem’s call for ‘Free Palestine’ at the 98th Academy Awards, a post began circulating which, allegedly posted from Swara Bhasker’s account, took an indirect dig at Priyanka. However, on Wednesday, Swara Bhasker cleared the air about the said post, calling it ‘fake.’

Taking to her X page, the Raanjhanaa actor began her post by calling out certain right-wing inclined people for create a fake tweet just to malign her. She wrote, “So apparently, Sanghis have created this fake tweet & are circulating it to mock me. Ajeeb desperation hai. I’m capable of generating my own controversies guys, you don’t have to implant me in other people’s news.. I mean I know you guys are OBSESSED with me but.. I’ll give you content na!”

Swara concluded her post by clarifying that the circulating post is fake.  

While Priyanka Chopra and Swara Bhasker never worked together in a film, Swara had publicly lauded Priyanka years ago, when the Mary Kom actor confronted a man at an event and schooled him about gender equality. 

Earlier this week, Priyanka Chopra received severe backlash on social media for her skeptical reaction to Javier Bardem’s powerful words on stage at the Academy Awards. 

In an indirect response, Priyanka Chopra shared a series of Instagram stories calling her critics 'jealous,' which drew further ire on social media.
