The trailer of Sunny Deol, Akshaye Khanna, Dia Mirza and Tillotama Shome starrer courtroom drama Ikka was unveiled by the makers on Monday. The film has been directed by Siddharth P Malhotra known for helming Maharaj (2024) and Hichki (2018), amongst others.
The Netflix film marks the OTT debut for both theatrically celebrated stars Sunny and Akshaye.
The teaser shows Sunny as Arjun Mehra, a celebrated lawyer known for his unwavering principles and belief in justice. He, however, has to defend the shady Shauryamann Gaur (Akshaye Khanna) who might or might not have attempted a murder. There is also Tillotama Shome as as Madhura Banerjee, a determined public prosecutor whose pursuit of justice places her on a collision course with Arjun. Dia Mirza plays Avantika, Arjun's wife, who finds herself trying to protect her family as the consequences of the case begin to seep into every corner of their lives.
Packed with tense courtroom confrontations, emotionally charged moments, and shifting loyalties, the trailer teases a story where every character is forced to confront difficult choices and their consequences.
Speaking about the film, Sunny says, “Ikka is not just a courtroom drama. It is a story about family, relationships, and the difficult choices life forces you to make. Arjun is a man who believes in doing what is right, but circumstances push him to question everything around him. His pain, his anger, his silence, and his fight for what he believes in are what drew me to this character.”
Describing her character, Tillotama says, “Madhura is someone who believes deeply in doing the right thing, regardless of the odds. I was drawn to her integrity, resilience and quiet determination. She is a strong woman who isn’t afraid to stand her ground or take on the toughest challenges, even when the pressure is immense.”
Dia Mirza adds, “Avantika is someone who brings warmth, strength, and stability to those around her, even when life becomes increasingly uncertain. I was drawn to her resilience and the quiet courage with which she navigates the challenges that come her way.”
Ikka is scheduled to release on Netflix on July 10.
