Main Vaapas Aaunga records more collections on its second Monday; 660 shows added

The Imtiaz Ali directorial's total domestic earnings currently stand at Rs 26.75 crore

Imtiaz Ali’s Main Vaapas Aaunga has achieved an impressive feat. The Partition drama, starring Naseeruddin Shah, Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari and Vedang Raina, has managed to record better collections on its second Monday than its first. On June 22, the film’s collection, as per Sacnilk.com was Rs 2.5 crore net, which is more than double of what it made on its first Monday (Rs 1.15 crore).

660 shows have also been added for Main Vaapas Aaunga. The film will now be shown across 2,631 screens this week from 1,971 screens on Sunday.

The film’s total domestic earnings currently stand at Rs 26.75 crore. Although the movie witnessed a 56.5 per cent drop in earnings from Sunday (Rs 5.75 crore), the figure is highly impressive. ON Monday, the film recorded an overall occupancy of 21 per cent. The film’s worldwide collections are at Rs 44 crore.

Main Vaapas Aaunga, which has music by AR Rahman and lyrics by Irshad Kamil, is set in present-day India and told through the ramblings of a 95-year-old man old man. His grandson finally pieces together the puzzle to draw a picture of Partition, trauma and love that could never be.
