The official teaser of upcoming Sunny Deol starrer Batwara 1947 was unveiled on Thursday. Produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, the period-drama is set for a theatrical release on August 14.

The Batwara 1947 teaser begins with a voice by Aamir, who briefly establishes the turbulent times around the 1947 Partition which were riddled with violence and lack of humanity, where peace and harmony were kept at bay. The teaser also avoids giveaway too much about its characters, largely driving on the visuals and capturing the macabre atmosphere of those times. However, the teaser ends with some powerful lines by Sunny Deol, who plays a loving and determined family man as he chooses courage in the face of all the hardships and horror.

Earlier this week, the makers had released character posters for its lead cast. Batwara 1947 stars a stellar ensemble cast featuring Shabana Azmi, Sunny Deol, Preity G Zinta, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh. The music is composed by AR Rahman, while the lyrics are penned by Javed Akhtar.

The period-drama marks the much-awaited reunion of Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol after nearly three decades — they had last worked together in Ghatak (1996). Produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions, Batwara 1947 will clash against Awarapan 2 at the box office.
