Director Hardik Gajjar's devotional film, Krishnavataram achieved a box office milestone that not many might have expected in the Hindi film industry. Now in its fifth week of release, the film has grossed more than 55 Crore from theatres worldwide. According to the makers of the film, what makes this landmark special is the lack of established stars in it. The film stars Siddharth Gupta, Sanskruti Jayana, Sushmitha Bhat and Nivaashiyni Krishnan, but none of them are established names in the industry as yet.
Krishnavataram is produced by Sajan Raj Kurup and Shobha Sant of Creativeland Studios Entertainment, in association with Poonam Shroff and Parth Gajjar of Athashrikatha Motion Pictures. The makers attribute the Krishnavataram box office performance to a positive reception from the audience and word of mouth.
The film tells the story of Lord Krishna and his relationships with Rukmini, Radha, and Satyabhama. It stars Siddharth Gupta as Krishna, Sushmitha Bhat as Radha, and Sanskruti Jayana as Satyabhama.
Reportedly, the film has been accepted by family audiences, especially. Its emotional narrative, divine themes, and music have been cited as the factors that play a part in the popularity of the film among audiences of different age groups.
Siddharth Gupta, Sushmitha Bhat, and Sanskruti Jayana have earned appreciation from critics for their performances in the film. On the other hand, the music by Prasad S keeps garnering appreciation on digital platforms even weeks after the release of the film.
There have been new releases in the meantime, bringing the number of shows for Krishnavataram to a limited figure. However, the film is still running in theatres even as it has entered the fifth week of its release, something which the makers highlight as a rare achievement.
Released also with dubs in Tamil and Telugu, the film is expected to have an English release in the near future.
