Recently, a post on caste-based reservation allegedly shared by actor Shilpa Shetty was going viral on social media. Now, Shilpa has issued a clarification stating that the post is “fake” and a “malicious garbage”.

A screenshot, apparently of Shilpa’s Instagram stories, was being shared widely on social media. It shows a note which reads, “Don’t touch reservation. Let general category doctors treat only general category patients and let everyone else treat only patients from their own caste. Do this for a few years and people will start asking to end caste-based reservation themselves. You can't get skill through reservation.”

The actor's clarification comes at a time when there is an increased discussion around caste-based reservation. An Instagram page called Reservation Hatao Andolan is also gaining a lot of traction, with followers crossing 5 million.

Shilpa distanced herself from the viral post, clarifying her stance over the same. “I am shocked to see fake statements on reservation falsely attached to my name. This is completely fabricated, malicious garbage. Do not fall for this fake news,” she wrote.

On the work front, the actor was last seen in the Kannada film KD: The Devil (2026).
