Recently, we reported about actor Imran Khan expressing his support for educationist Sonam Wangchuk during his days-long hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. Taking to his Instagram Stories, the actor asked for accountability from the powers that be and supported the students who are fighting against NEET paper leaks. "You raise your voices for the best in us, and it is my honor to stand beside you," the actor shared in reference to the students.

Elsewhere, he spoke to aspiring actor Riya Jana about whether it is right to mix art with politics. Responding to a question about other actors' perception that art is apolitical, Imran Khan said, "True art is going to have an individual artist's point of view embedded within it. And as part of our human nature, we are going to have opinions and perspectives that we hold through ourselves. If you can't stand by your opinions and if you don't pour your own heart into your art, your art has no value."

Imran's comments at a student protest venue come at a time when a section of the public is questioning the silence of many actors, sports persons, politicians and other public figures in the ongoing protest. Even actor-turned-Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay is being questioned for his lack of an opinion in the issue, even though his government reiterated its opposition to the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test.

On the film front, Imran Khan made a comeback to cinema with a special appearance in Vir Das' Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos. Produced by his uncle Aamir Khan, the film marked Imran's return to acting after 2015's Katti Batti. The failure of the 2015 film and a gradual loss of interest in acting played a part in his decision to take a long break from cinema.
