On Sunday, ZEE5 had unveiled its release slate for the coming few months. One of the projects announced was season 2 of Janaawar, headlined by Bhuvan Arora. On Tuesday evening, the official teaser of the series was unveiled.
In Janaawar, Bhuvan plays inspector Hemant Kumar, a sincere cop drawn into a haunting web of crime. The teaser is underlined by a dramatic voiceover that narrates the storyline in a fable-like manner, describing the story of a forest where destruction followed after the arrival of a Janaawar (Animal).
And even though the animal was caged, and happiness arrived for a while, darkness was to follow soon after — for our protagonist lives in a system where caste is never forgotten and superstitions are followed like law. The teaser ends with a chilling visual of Hemant looking at his reflection into the water, with his head appearing right above a beheaded body — for every night brings along fear, many preys, and one predator.
Directed by Shacindra Vats, the series also features Vinod Suryavanshi, Bhagvan Tiwari, Deekasha Sonalkar and Vaibhav Chaudhary in the lead cast. A premiere date for Janaawar season 2 is yet to be announced.
Produced by Aarambh Entertainment, Season 1 of Janaawar premiered in September last year. In our review for season 1, we noted, "The show needed to be a bit more open, a bit less hesitant and a tad more dense to be true to the bleak nature of its themes. Right now, it just brushes away the conflict. The plot doesn’t thicken; the ideas don’t marinate."
