The trailer of season 2 of the acclaimed crime-thriller series Kohrra was unveiled by the makers on Thursday. While the show’s first season featured Suvinder Vicky as the senior cop, this time Mona Singh will be playing the commanding officer in the role of a new character called Dhanwant Kaur. Barun Sobti, however, will reprise his role of Amarpal Garundi. Creator and writer Sudip Sharma will be taking up directorial duties with this season alongside Faisal Rahman. The show is written by Gunjit Chopra and Diggi Sisodia.
New season, new case. Dhanwant Kaur and Garundi are investigating the murder of a girl, Preet (Pooja Bhamrrah). She was found in a barn, literally, stabbed in the back. As the mystery unravels, suspects emerge. Preet’s husband (played by Roadies fame Rannvijay Singha) was estranged from her. There relationship was also marred by violence. Then there is her brother (played by Anurag Arora) with whom Preet had a dispute over property. The cops Kaur and Garundi are also battling their personal demons, with the latter having marital troubles while the former’s husband has gone missing. The trailer promises a similar, bleak tone of season one with enough thrills while exploring the human condition.
Talking about the series, Barun, who is reprising the role of Garundi, shared, “Garundi begins this season hoping to start afresh, but in a world like Kohrra, the past never quite lets go. The mystery this time is denser and more layered, and that complexity reflects in Garundi’s own journey. He’s more introspective, more guarded, and constantly negotiating with his own choices.”
Mona, who’ll be joining the cast as Dhanwant Kaur, shares, “Stepping into the world of Kohrra was both exciting and daunting because of how thoughtfully it is written. Dhanwant is a woman of few words, but immense resolve. She’s navigating loss, responsibility, and the constant need to prove herself — often without saying much at all.”
A Film Squad Production in association with Act Three, Kohrra season 2 is produced by Saurabh Malhotra, Sudip Sharma, Manuj Mittra, and Tina Tharwani. It will land on Netflix on February 11.
