On Tuesday, Kunal Kapoor took to his social media page to recall a memory from ten years ago, while reflecting on his renewed thoughts on perceived sense of neutrality in western media, as compared to Indian media, calling out their effective propaganda.

Taking to his X page, Kunal Kapoor recalled a chance encounter with an influential PR professional while he was travelling to Berlin, nearly ten years ago. Sharing the anecdote, Kunal penned, “We started talking, the way strangers sometimes do at 30,000 feet. She was a senior partner at a powerful PR firm, one that didn’t just handle brands, but also some Western governments. For the next couple of hours, we spoke about global politics, economics, power. She was sharp, articulate, and refreshingly honest.”

However, Kunal recalled how the most startling part of the conversation arrived at the end when, after Kunal asked her about the most enjoyable part of her job, the woman replied, “Ninety percent of what you believe is what I want you to believe. That’s power, right?”

Kunal stated that his confidence about his own sense of being well-informed had permanently shifted after this conversation. Earlier in this post, Kunal mentioned how the success of modern propaganda lies in the self-positioning of Western media outlets as ‘neutral and objective’ while Indian media continued to be perceived as ‘biased.’

On a professional front, Kunal Kapoor was last seen in the Netflix original film Jewel Thief.
