Comedian-actor Vir Das recently appeared on Amitabh Bachchan’s game show Kaun Banega Crorepati and told the veteran actor a heartfelt story of how he met him for the first time.

Vir took to X on Friday to share a video from the episode. He had gone to KBC, along with his co-actors Mithila Palkar and Mona Singh, as part of the promotions for his upcoming film Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos.

In the video Vir tells Mr. Bachchan that he once met him before, but for a brief “3 seconds”, which invokes a laughter from the audience. Then he goes on to tell him that about ten years ago he used to work as a writer for the Filmfare awards and one time he got the opportunity to perform for five minutes on stage during the ceremony. “As I came backstage, you were standing there,” Vir tells Mr. Bachchan. “And you told me I was ‘very funny.’ It might be just two words for you but for a small artist like me it was like a whole book,” Vir says. “We say that when light falls, it should fall on everyone. Your light does, on the whole country,” he adds as Mr. Bachchan gets overwhelmed with gratefulness.

On the work front, Vir is gearing up for the release of his next film Happy Patel, a spy comedy-actioner. The film also stars Mona Singh and Mithila Palkar and will have a special appearance by Aamir Khan and Imran Khan.
