A few days ahead of their film’s release, the makers of upcoming Anil Kapoor starrer Subedaar released the first single, titled ‘Balam Subedaar.’ GD Kaur is the playback singer for the catchy number.

As evident with the song title, ‘Balam Subedaar’ is a funky reprise of the popular 2023 Haryanvi song ‘Balam Thanedaar.’ While originally composed by Raj Mawar for Real Music Production, the new single is composed by Rutvik Talashilkar, with music supervision by Akashdeep Sengupta. Youngveer has penned the additional lyrics, reworking the original song written by Rohtash Gagsiniya.

Besides working as a swagger-laden theme piece for the film’s protagonist Arjun Maurya (Anil Kapoor), the ‘Balam Subedaar’ song video also offers a glimpse into his bond with his wife Sudha (Khushbu Sundar), capturing her pride in her Subedaar and the love that anchors him beyond the uniform, while adding emotional depth to Arjun Maurya’s character — a man who commands respect in uniform and earns quiet devotion at home.

Directed by Suresh Triveni, Subedaar is produced by Vikram Malhotra, Anil Kapoor, and Suresh Triveni. Besides Anil Kapoor and Khushbu, the film stars Radhikka Madan, who plays Shyama, and Mona Singh as the main antagonist. Aditya Rawal, Saurabh Shukla, and Faisal Malik will be seen in key roles as well.

Marking Anil Kapoor’s maiden OTT movie, Subedaar is set for premiere on Prime Video on March 5.
