Mona Singh, who received a lot of acclaim for her performance in the recently-released season 2 of Kohrra, will soon be seen in another prominent role in the upcoming OTT film Subedaar. The actor will be seen playing Bubbly, a local sand mafia crimelord who locks horns with Arjun Maurya, played by Anil Kapoor. At the trailer launch of Subedaar, which was held on Monday evening, Mona Singh spoke about why she consciously chooses challenging roles.

Talking about her pull towards challenging roles, Mona said, “Mostly actors want to not repeat themselves. And I have always tried not to play the same role that I have played before. Every actor likes challenges, and I like it the most - to do things which surprise me, which challenge me, which give me some sleepless nights. So I felt all that while playing the Subedaar role and it was very fun.”

Talking about accepting the Subedaar role, Mona stated, “I feel very, very lucky, grateful that I have such friends. Suresh offered me this role. And I really found it very challenging because I have never played such a role. You know, the name is Bubbly but she is not Bubbly from anywhere.” Further sharing how the complexity of the role drew her, the actor noted, “You have to catch the dialect of a heartland and you are also a goon. You are running a sand mafia. I have made Subedar ji sad in the movie. There's a lot of action happening because of Bubbly Didi.”

Besides Mona Singh and Anil Kapoor, Subedaar also features Radhikka Madan, Aditya Rawal, Saurabh Shukla and Faisal Malik in the lead cast. The action-drama will begin streaming on Prime Video on March 5.

Mona Singh’s other recent works include Happy Patel, the Vir Das starrer comedy.
