Sajid Ali, who made his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed film Laila Majnu (2018), is making his next film based on another legendary love story. On Saturday, the makers announced the title of their film with a concept teaser.
Written and presented by Imtiaz Ali, the film is titled Heer Ranjha. The concept teaser, which uses footage from Laila Majnu (2018), is billed as ‘the next love legend from the world of Laila Majnu.’ It is to be noted that Imtiaz Ali was also the co-writer for the Avinash Tiwary-Triptii Dimri starrer which has earned a cult status since it’s release.
The lead cast for the film is yet to be officially announced. The film is jointly produced by Ektaa Kapoor, Shobhaa Kapoor and Preety Ali.
Meanwhile, Imtiaz Ali has another released lined up this year. Starring Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina and Sharvari in the lead, the untitled film will release in theatres on June 12, 2026.
Sajid Ali has also had other releases like the OTT series Dr Arora (2022) and Wo Bhi Din The (2024).
