‘O Maayi Re’ from The Kerala Story 2 is a heart-wrenching ode to the mother figure

Shreya Ghoshal has rendered the melancholic composition from Mannan Shah

The makers of The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond recently unveiled their film’s teaser. On Monday, the first single of the film was unveiled. Vipul Amrutlal Shah is producing the film in association with Aashin A Shah under the Sunshine Pictures banner. 

Sung by Shreya Ghoshal, ‘O Maayi Re’ is a melancholic composition penned as a tribute to the mother figure, as the protagonists struggle with tough times and recall their first protectors. Mannan Shah has composed the song, while Manoj Muntashir has penned the lyrics which capture the warmth, protection, and unconditional love that live on in every heartbeat, embracing you like a gentle hug in moments of quiet reflection. 

Shreya has previously sung many popular songs for Vipul Amrutlal Shah productions like ‘Main Chali’ (Force) and numbers like ‘O Bekhabar’, ‘Tera Mera Pyaar’ and ‘Baaki Main Bhool Gayi’ from Action Replayy (2010).

Ulka Gupta, Aditi Bhatia and Aishwarya Ojha play the three leads in The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond, which is an an official sequel to the 2023 film The Kerala Story which was a monstrous hit at the box office, and also received 2 National Awards. Vipul is also writer for the film along with Amarnath Jha, while Kamakhya Narayan Singh helms direction.  

Other key technicians include Sanjay Sharma as the editor, Juhi Talmaki as the production designer, and Abhijeet Chaudhari as the cinematographer.

The film will arrive in theatres on February 27.
