Rani Mukerji’s Mardaani 3 registered a decent opening of Rs 4 crore but after the first weekend the collections dwindled to the range of Rs 1.85 crore to Rs 2.6 crore. On its 9th day (second Saturday), however, the film has picked up pace again with a box office of Rs 3.25 crore, as per Sacnilk.com.

The film’s total collection now stands at Rs 31.78 crore. It is expected to surpass the lifetime collections of the original Mardaani (2014) whose total collection was Rs 35.65 crore. However, the highest-grossing film in the franchise remains Mardaani 2 (2019), which collected approximately Rs 47.35 crore nett in India.

Owing to the weekend, Mardaani 3’s Hindi occupancy in theatres was the highest for the night shows at 29.45 per cent, followed by evening shows at 23.13 per cent and afternoon and morning shows at 20.11 and 9.26 per cent respectively.

Directed by Abhiraj Minawala, the film also features Janki Bodiwala and Mallika Prasad in pivotal roles. The film revolves around tough-cop Shivani Shivaji Roy (Rani) who takes it upon herself to dismantle a child-trafficking syndicate in Delhi. In the process she has to face off against Amma (Mallika), the queenpin of the illegal operation.

In our review for the film, we noted, “Mardaani 3 hangs somewhere between serving the nuance of an impactful story and the hoot-worthiness of a mass entertainer. It patiently builds but then loses all patience.”
