The Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty ensemble Border 2 is going steady in its second weekend at the box office. As per Sacnilk.com, the war-drama’s collections dropped on its second Friday (January 30) to Rs 10.75 crore from the previous day’s Rs 11.25 crore. The film’s collections, however, picked up on Saturday as it registered Rs 17.75 crore. The India net collection for Border 2 currently stands at Rs 252.75 crore.

With the release window free till February 13, the Anurag Singh directorial is set to have a smooth run. It only faces minor competition by Rani Mukerji’s Mardaani 3 which has made over Rs 10 crore in its first two days. Dhurandhar has also landed on Netflix and that might also slow down its theatrical run.

Border 2 has become the second-highest grossing film in Varun Dhawan’s career after Dilwale (2015) which grossed Rs 388 crore worldwide. It, however, is running behind Sunny Deol’s last film Gadar 2, which minted Rs 336.2 crore within 9 days of release.

Border 2 enjoyed the most occupancy in Jaipur with 40.50 per cent, followed by Bengaluru at 34.5 per cent and National Capital Region (NCR) at 34 per cent.

Since it was a weekend, the night shows had the most number of takers at 42.35 per cent, followed by evening and afternoon shows at 32.96 per cent and 28.11 per cent, respectively. The morning shows had an occupancy at 11.05 per cent.

CE’ review of Border 2 read: “Border 2 is old wine in a new, possible-to-be-molotoved bottle. It starts sappy and sentimental but soon snowballs into thundering nationalism. There is no going back once the battle goes full blazing.”
