Daayra makers release new poster featuring Kareena Kapoor and Prithviraj Sukumaran

As Daayra, the Kareena Kapoor-Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer cop thriller nears its release, the makers have commenced the promotions in full swing. On Tuesday, the Daayra team unveiled new set of posters, also announcing the trailer launch date for the film.

In the new poster, one can see Prithviraj and Kareena look towards the camera in a half-turn, carrying a stern and determined expression on the face. Another important element in the poster is the face of a woman in the background that looms large, wrapped up brutally in ‘the yellow barricade tapes.  “Two officers. Two perspectives. One Truth,” the makers captioned the post. 

The Daayra trailer, meanwhile, will be unveiled on August 31. 

Directed by Meghna Gulzar, and inspired by true events, Daayra is billed as a crime-drama thriller that explores the age-old paradox of crime, punishment, and justice. It promises to tap into the pulse of the people as it confronts the topical and diabolical realities unfolding in society today, as per the official logline.

The shoot for Daayra commenced in September 2025, coming to a close within four months in December.

Produced by Junglee Pictures and Pen Studios, Daayra is scheduled to release on September 18.  Besides Hindi, the film will also release in Malayalam. Upon it’s release, the film will clash against Vibe, The Kunal Kemmu directed comedy which also features Preity Zinta in a key role. 

Meghna Gulzar, who made her filmmaking debut with Filhaal (2002) is known for films like Talvar (2015), Raazi (2018) and Sam Bahadur (2023). 

This is also the first time Kareena and Prithviraj will be seen sharing screen. — Kareena was last seen 2 years ago in Singham Again (2024), while Prithviraj’s previous Hindi release was Sarzameen, an OTT film also starring Kajol and Ibrahim Ali Khan.
