After a dismal theatrical run, Bobby Deol-starrer drama-thriller Bandar now has an OTT release date. The film, directed by Anurag Kashyap and written by Sudip Sharma (Paatal Lok, Kohrra) and Abhishek Banerjee, is scheduled to release on ZEE5 on August 28.

The OTT platform made the announcement via a social media post on Thursday. The shared a poster from the film and wrote, “When a man is accused, is the verdict already decided? Witness a man’s life turn upside down after an accusation. #Bandar, premieres 28th Aug only on Hindi Zee 5.”

Bandar revolves around a TV actor Samar whose fame is fading. His life is turned upside down when he is accused of rape by his ex-girlfriend and lands up in jail.

The film proved to be a dud at the box office and wrapped up at an India net collection of Rs 4.2 crore. Bandar also received mixed reviews from critics. CE’s review of the film read: “The film gets a little mired in the multiple subplots it has embarked upon. Samar’s internal struggle, his legal battle to get out, and his harsh encounters with everyone inside who threatens to change him a little, one conversation at a time — there is too much happening, and the narrative somewhat loses focus of Samar’s inner fall.”

Apart from Bobby, Bandar also features Sanya Malhotra, Saba Azad, Raj B Shetty, Jitendra Joshi, Riddhi Sen, Indrajith Sukumaran and Nagesh Bhonsle in key roles. It has been produced by Nikhil Dwivedi’s Saffron Magicworks and backed by Zee Studios.
