Isha Koppikar recently shared a video statement on her Instagram page where she claimed to identify as an ‘andhbhakt’ (a term usually used to denote to ardent fans of PM Narendra Modi), for which she has been receiving a lot of strong reactions from netizens. However, now Kangana Ranaut has stepped forward in support of Isha, explaining why she prefers to use the term ‘bhakt’ for herself as well.
Sharing examples from her own life of activism and protests while sharing Isha’s Instagram video in her stories section, Kangana wrote, “Never blamed parents for any limitation that may have come my way; instead uplifted the whole family to the same standard of life that I earned for myself. Identify as a bhakt of almost anyone whom I meet; I love my country, I love my people, I simply love my life.”
Earlier, Isha had said in the video, “If loving one’s country and wanting it’s progress is ‘Andhbhakti,’ then I am proud to be an Andhbhakt. However, my devotion is not for any political party, but rather my country. I can question the Government, disagree with its policies, and still love my country. My home is here, I earn my bread and butter here, and I have no shame in loving my country.”
Recently, Isha also came in the limelight when she made a statement about not worried about losing work at the cost of sharing her honest views about the socio-political developments in the country. It is to be noted that during the recent CJP-led protests at Jantar Mantar three weeks ago, Isha had strongly expressed her views, asking the protesting students to have faith in the system instead of resorting to violence.
Incidentally, Kangana too had received her share of criticism for describing Gen-Z as ‘Gutter generation,’ a remark which she has since retracted, clarifying that she was specifically speaking about a select few.
